Reuniting The States Of America

A government that foments or aggrandizes a rapidly incipient sense of disparity among any class of it's citizens is inadvertently providing a breeding ground for gang violence and radical domestic terrorism.

My adoption of this belief was incited after I recently became aware that more than one state in our nation as of recent has pending legislative proposals that would allow or act as a succor for their secession from the U.S. The press has not provided much coverage on this subject. Probably because it only represents an extremely small portion of the population in just a few states or perhaps in an attempt to deny recognition of these groups in the belief that by doing so will cause them to be viewed as an insignificant minority that is based on a paradigm spurious in nature.

The problem with this is not that any particular faction of the union wants to secede. The problem lies in the inimical attitude of a populous that believes it is being ruled by an oligarchy that continues to arrogate the power of the people or simply ignore them altogether. The derogation of unity this has caused is a sense of governmental divesting of the core values of our nation. Therefore a desire to secede is not a problem but a symptom of the disease.

The persons proposing recession are doing so in an appropriate manner that reflects their faith in a democratic system. But there are and will always be others that do not have the means or are ignorant to them and will attempt to be heard by more radical actions or even to go as far as to supplant local government by any means necessary with the hope of gaining support along the way.

If I were to stretch my opinion here nearly to it's breaking point. I could claim that inner-city gang violence is a product of this unrest our nation is feeling, a form of domestic terrorism. The Ku Klux Klan was begun by six people in the post civil war reconstruction era as an attempt to hang on to southern tradition. It quickly developed into a group of "insurgents" who not only terrorized blacks but white political representatives in the south who were attempting to indoctrinate northern ideals into the south. The Klan responded with a wave of murders and acts of terrorism intended on instilling fear and concurrently a lack of support for the governmental overhaul of southern culture. Ultimately they were unsuccessful and eventually succumbed to the new laws. Yet, the KKK is still in existence to this day. They still harbor a disdain for current governmental policy and probably always will.

Before I relate this to gangs I want it to be known that street gangs are governed by their own titular version of democracy that resides in our country's prison system. IE: The Mexican Mafia, The Aryan Brotherhood and The Black Guerilla Family. They relate to the KKK through their shared discontent and desire for change. Of course the desire of power and superiority is a major motive in gangs today but I don't see any top ranking gang members running for office. These are the individuals individuals I mentioned before who through intimidation and violence are trying to govern their own neighborhoods. In response authorities have waged a war against gangs. This conflict has resulted in the incarceration of millions of people. The United States prison population is greater than that of any other country. Over 7 million people are currently behind bars or under parole/probation supervision, over 2 million of which are actually incarcerated. Yet we continue to arrest, prosecute and imprison more everyday. We are putting criminals in jail and protecting innocent communities, to a degree but we are also constantly promoting a multeity of gang members from "soldiers" to prison politicians. Once in jail they are indoctrinated with a belief system that tells them that they are misunderstood victims of society. When released back into the general public they inevitably return to their gang affiliations at which time they propagate what they have been taught in prison. This causes other gang members to believe they are fighting for a worthy cause and strengthens the bond among them.

As the disparity in our population continues to grow I think we will see a growing influx in the size and influence of gang culture as well as the advent of new and more powerful gang affiliated organizations formed under the guise of civil rights and other outdated sociopolitical movements. An example of this would be the ACLUseless. The ACLU has done a lot of great things for minorities and those who have been discriminated against but most of their recent causes are blown way out of proportion. Their championing of petty issues and unionizing of races is only diversifying our nation into so many subgroups that I am not surprised the government has stopped listening to the common person and now focuses more on the big businesses, whom grew through the unity of American prosperity and are the ones who provide almost all our tax revenue anyways. But now even the big business' in America are failing to flourish due to the constraints of political correctness and mandated pandering to the less fortunate and have begun to sellout to foreign nations where they can increase their prosperity by providing their products and services to developing countries as oppose to ours that thinks it has already developed and therefore seeks enhancement as oppose to further growth.

We can't criticize big businesses for controlling our government because in reality they are the ones supporting it. What we need to do, and soon, is to disown ourselves from our reliance on corporations. If these companies continue to seek refuge overseas where will we be when they finally decide they no longer have any need for the U.S. except as a nation of consumers to export their goods to?

The American revolution was a product of Great Britain's excessive colonization and disinterest in the values of the colonies it presided over. One of these being America, where people had started to band together in tightly knit "gangs" of insurgents. After some failed attempts to gain sovereignty they eventually developed a great enough level of cooperation to succeed in becoming the United States of America. We need to focus less on colonization of other countries and more on appeasing our own discontent citizens in order to dissuade them from talking more radical actions or bonding together and becoming an actual threat to our country.

To finish I've included a poem voicing my view of our current dilemma. I know it's rather lengthy, but hey, we've got a lot of problems.

Dumb Amerika

If I were to write a book

this is how the cover would look

"DUMB AMERIKA"

Another non-celebrity, "Tell All" about nobody

representing the minority while supporting the majority

freedom of speech abusing

anti-war and green-Gore

humanitarian effort supporting but still favoring deporting

funded by a Chinese investor

NY Times number one best seller...

15% OFF!!!

and chapter one would start off

AMERICAN SOCIETY RE-TOLD RHYTHMICALLY...

Because we put money as our deity

we created a society

of hippies, LSD, Hate & Ashbury

who fought with futility

inexperience and malleability

while surrounded by bigotry

and it's greedy irresponsibility

we now pay the penalty(unless viewed optimistically)

of missed opportunities & ignored possibilities

so due to our irresponsibility

and drug induced apathy(which we practiced on a basis daily)

we use our college degrees

to invent technologies

for the greedy and wealthy

whom just so recently

we fought against diligently

when being a revolutionary

was still acting patriotically

but now to speak freely

is to be labeled an insurgency

so I'll sit here patiently

and bask in the revelry

of knowing most celebrities

who preach to us globally

about starving children"Oh the humanity!"

will one day ironically

while sitting in a "La-z-Boy"

kick the bucket(proverbially)

just to be added statistically

as another victim of obesity

i give up i retire

Devoid of desire

with an excess of mental clarity

a saint in sinners attire

the epitome of apathy

contemplating epiphanies

far from a symphony

it's the din of life's cacophony

not giving a sh**

taking another hit

we live life without caring

so we can live life without fearing

i ignore all the media

rather read the encyclopedia

an independent mind

impossible to find

like WMD's

cause our nations blind

and can't see the ties that bind

celebrity gossip

makes me toss lunch up

who f***in' cares about

who's f***in' Britney's brains out

were in a recession

i blame our aggression

Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and turkey

losing our freedom

forgetting where we came from

a false sense of security

dropping bomb after bomb

on countries overseas

accused of terrorist activities?

f*** going green

not to sound unkind

but when it comes to mankind

we're new on the scene

the earth's plenty clean

it won't end in our time

we let our lives waste away

trying to live tomorrow

before we live today

then join a religious sect

cause that's what others expect

there's no guy in the sky

you live then you die

so if you wanna get that high

better get on a plane

or fall like icarus

when the wax begins to wain

Am i the only one willing to admit

that the average american

doesn't know shit

it's a fact that can't be mistaken

it's just a shame no one can see it

like an etcha-sketch picture

once it's been shaken

is it because we're all so lazy

we'd rather watch other people

on reality tv

or is too much of our time

is wasted under a steeple

getting in line with strange people

to put money in a basket

we all ponder that question

but i'm the only one that's asked it

we've put ourselves in an embarrassing situation

one where we're mocked or hated

by every other nation

we've got beliefs

but lack any evidence

so war is the way that we try to convince

we use technology and science

to try and cover up

our lack of intelligence

but by making life easier

we make ourselves lazier

our level of activity continues to get worse

until it becomes less

than that of a body's

in the back of a hearse

we need to focus less on celebrities

and more on philosophies

what we need is a modern day socrates

someone who questions everyday life

instead of more tabloid authors

writing about your favorite stars wife

question: is mankind doomed

damn right

like japanese under the bomb when it boomed

we've set the timer on self destruction

and forgot how to stop it

all because of our mental corruption
